The Disability Among the Elderly project with the Harvard Medical School, funded by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), is a survey of 400 community-dwelling elderly individuals living in the Boston metropolitan area. The goal is to understand whether technology and environmental modifications (e.g. walk-in showers, ramps, etc) affect self-reported disability. This study involves in-person interviews using the survey instrument developed by CSR as well as administration of the Established Populations for Epidemiologic Studies of the Elderly (EPESE) Battery of physical assessments.
